5-yr-old raped by teen in Katihar

In increasing cases of rape of minors in Bihar, a five-year-old girl was raped by a teenager in north-eastern Bihar’s Katihar district on Sunday.

Sources said the girl was playing near her house in Balrampur village on Sunday evening when a 14-year-old boy lured her to a secluded place by offering her toffees and then forced himself on her.

Katihar superintendent of police Kim told HT on Monday, “Villagers caught the boy in the act and handed him over to the local police. He has been put in a remand home and will be tried under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.”

Minor raped while collecting firewood
Latehar (Jharkhand): A six-year-old tribal girl was raped in Barwadih village in Latehar district on Monday.

Reports said Zakir Ansari, 19, forcibly took the girl to a nearby field with standing crop when she was busy collecting firewood for her home.

Villagers rushed to the spot on hearing the victim’s cries and thrashed him before handing him over to the police.

The victim's parents were out of station when the crime was committed. The police sent the victim to a primary health centre for treatment.

Neighbour targets 10-yr-old
Bhojpur: A 10-year-old girl who had gone to her neighbor’s house in a village in the Sandesh area of Bhojpur district to fetch cowdung cakes used to light fires, was raped by him on Sunday.

The victim’s father lodged an FIR after she narrated her agony to him.

Sandesh SHO Shyam Deo Singh said the police were conducting raids to arrest Mishra.

Mumbai varsity teachers suspended after molestation complaints
Mumbai:Two Mumbai University teachers from the physical education department were suspended last week following complaints of molestation against them by some members of the department.

Bapu Chougule, 57, head of the physical training department and Nilesh Lohar, 39, an assistant professor, were arrested by the Bandra Kurla Complex police on December 14, and later released.
