A joint team of CRPF, COBRA and state police recently launched a major offensive against the Maoists in Latehar.

At least six Maoists were killed by a joint team of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Jharkhand police in an encounter in Latehar district early on Wednesday.

The encounter occurred at around 5am near Nabarnagu-Karamdih area under Chhipadohar police station of Latehar, one of the most Maoist-affected regions in the state.

“The bodies are yet to be identified,” Birtharay added.
