MP: 7 pilgrims killed, over 20 injured in bus mishap

Seven persons were killed and over 20 others injured when a bus carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh overturned in Sahayal area in Auriya district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Sunday.

The incident occurred late last night when the bus carrying pilgrims from Lahar town in Bhind area of Madhya Pradesh overturned near Sauthara, about 180 km from Lucknow, killing seven passengers, including two children, it said.

Police said over 20 passengers were injured in the accident and were admitted to community health centre at Dibiyapur and the district hospital in Auriya.

The pilgrims were returning to Madhya Pradesh from Tirva in Kannauj district when the mishap occurred.

Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar said around 60 pilgrims were travelling in the bus.
