746 solar lanterns distributed in Kudara

Minister for forests, ecology and environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad visited Kudara, the remotest part of Bandipora district, on Tuesday and distributed solar lanterns among 746 families of nine un-electrified villages of the area. The target is to distribute 700 more lanterns this year.


Speaking on the occasion, the minister said necessary instructions have been issued to the district administration to bring maximum villages under the ambit of welfare schemes launched by the government across the state.

He said all un-electrified villages would be brought under RGGY scheme of power development department.

The minister asked the Gujjar and Bakerwal communities to come forward and take the benefits of welfare schemes introduced by the government in different sectors.

Altaf said 100 home solar lights are being procured for installation in religious places of the district. He asked people to extend their cooperation to the executing agencies for taking forward the ongoing development projects started in the area.
