In a shocking incident, a 2012 ‘rape’ victim of Karaya (a locality in South Kolkata) was again attacked by the same accused.

According to a complaint lodged with the Karaya police station, Sahazada Bux allegedly molested, intimidated and even attempted rape on the 17-year old victim.

Police has arrested Bux and sent the victim to the custody of Child Welfare Committee.

Significantly, Bux was acquitted of rape charges in December 2013. The victim told police that ever since he came out, he was threatening her with dire consequences for lodging the first complaint that led to his arrest on December 4, 2012.

The Karaya rape incident had come to the light when Mir Aminul Islam had set himself on fire on December 3, 2012 in protest against the police-criminal nexus and reluctance of police to arrest Bux. Islam was seriously injured and died on January 1, 2013. Bux allegedly raped two women in October 2012. One of the women lodged a complaint against Bux with the help of Islam.

He was arrested the day after Islam immolated himself. However, Bux came out of the jail in December last year after he got acquittal in the rape case.

The case bears similarity to the Madhyamgram rape case of 2013 where a 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped twice in two days by the same men — once after a man conned her out of home and later in a taxi after she lodged a police complaint.
