An advocate of Khabran Kalan area of the district was axed to death in Bhattu Kalan village in the presence of naib tehsildar and kanungo at Panchayat Bhawan here on Saturday.

In the presence of revenue officers the auction of produce of disputed land was going on when the assailants attacked advocate Suresh Bansal with sharp-edged weapons.

Bansal had purchased one-acre disputed land from his client Kanshi Ram and tried to dispossess Vijay Singh whose family was farming on the land in 2009. At that time Bansal and his father Om Prakash were attacked and the accused were jailed for three years.
Later the court gave verdict in favour of Bansal and he demanded third part of the produce. The court asked the revenue department to ensure due share to him through auction.

On Saturday when auction was taking place three youths came on a motorcycle to Panchayat Bhawan. Two of the armed accused attacked Bansal from behind and hacked him to death.

Naib tehsildar Sunil Mohan, Kanugo Risal Singh and four bidders were present at the time of the incident.

The attackers escaped on motorcycle.  The police have registered a case of murder against Vijay Singh, his son Ravi and others. No arrest has been made so far.

Sub divisional magistrate (SDM) Baljeet Singh and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Narapjeet Singh reached the spot after the incident.
