CBI director Ranjit Sinha faced criticism left, right and centre for his controversial remark on rape, with many, including the National Commission for Women expressing disatisfaction over “just a mere apology” by him.

"If you cannot enforce the ban on betting, it is like saying, if you can't prevent rape, you enjoy it", Sinha had said on Tuesday, while making a case for legalising betting in sports.

While the BJP said Sinha’s comments were shocking and unfortunate, the CPM called it outrageous and the Congress too agreed the remark was regrettable.

Hindustan Times conducted a poll to find out what the readers thought about the controversy, with the majority saying the CBI chief should step down from his post.

Here are the results.
