A day after his son Narayan Sai dubbed the girl who levelled rape charges against self-styled godman Asaram Bapu as 'mentally unstable' Asaram said on Thursday the girl had told her friends that she would make a name for herself after leaving the Gurukul.

Speaking to media persons at his ashram with a rider that they would not ask any question Asaram said, “I was told by other girls at Chhindwara gurukul that the girl, who has levelled the allegations against me, had told her close friends that she would not be back again in the Ashram and that she would earn fame nation-wide. Now, she has become famous. The allegation against me is a conspiracy."

"Now, I am at 75 and wonder how people could think of so mean about me. How I could exploit anybody at this age, that too my disciple”, he added.
Asaram was in tears when he said as a part of a conspiracy police tried to plant a dupatta and hair of a girl in his room. But they could not succeed. I am highly upset over these things.

He said he would like to make it clear that he did not have affiliation with any particular political party. He had his disciples as corporators, MLAs, ministers in all the political parties. “Why should I like to be confined myself to any particular party”, he asked.

He said he didn't have enmity with anybody but still his name was being dragged into this controversy. There was a political conspiracy behind it.

When the media persons reached the Ashram at Gandhinagar in the afternoon their entry to it was not allowed. As they waited for Asaram impatiently at the ashram they were allowed to get in after about an hour.

"Mere se koi ulta seedha sawal mat puchhana kyonki mai bahut dukhi hun, aur mai kuchh bol dunga to sab ko bura lag jayega, (Don't ask me any question. I am sad. And if I say something, you people would feel bad)," he told the media persons. He requested media persons with folded hands late afternoon not to ask any question.
