After UP, Modi plans rally blitzkrieg in Bihar

After the aggressive campaigning in Uttar Pradesh, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will next turn to Bihar. Modi will address three rallies on arch-rival Nitish Kumar’s turf next month.

Modi will end the UP leg at Lucknow on March 2, and leave for Muzaffarpur the next day.

“So far, he has been focusing on the northeast and south, where the party is not so strong. As election gets closer the entire focus will shift to areas where BJP has a lot at stake,” said a senior party leader on condition of anonymity.

UP and Bihar account for 120 Lok Sabha seats and now, “Modi’s presence in these two states would be more frequent,” he added.

In October, Modi had launched his campaign with a rally in Patna. On March 10, he will address a rally in Purnea and another one in Gaya on March 14. The party is also mulling a rally in Bhagalpur or Champaran, but no final decision has been taken.

On March 24, another rally will be held in neighbouring Jharkhand – the tribal-dominated Dumka.
