Amarnath yatra suspended from Jammu

Amarnath yatra was on Thursday suspended from Jammu in view of the bad weather conditions and security reasons.


"Yatra has been suspended on Thursday due to bad weather conditions and security reasons", a police officer said here.

However, he did not elaborate.

No fresh batch was allowed to move to Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas today, he said.

Yatra was earlier resumed on August 13 after it remained suspended for three days in the wake of communal clashes and curfew in areas of Jammu region.

Yatra was also suspended due to bad weather conditions from Kashmir-based twin base camps of Pahalgam and Baltal yesterday.
