Anna Hazare says he has been fighting corruption for the last 25 years, but the next one month will be dedicated to his health.

The 74-year-old activist, who doesn't see eye to eye with the government on the lokpal bill, is all ears to doctors' advice and intends to rest for a month.

Hazare was discharged from Pune's Sancheti Hospital on Sunday, with instructions to keep off physical exertion and his trademark method of protest – fasting.

"The fight (against corruption) is not for a month or two. It's a long battle that I have been fighting for the last 25 years," Hazare said outside the hospital before leaving for his native village of Ralegan Siddhi, about 85 km away.

Hazare said he would firm up his next strategy on pushing an effective lokpal bill only when he is fully fit.

"I feel weak. I have to think of my health. I will step out only if my doctors allow and I feel healthy," he said.

Hazare sidetracked questions on allegations of irregularities against some of his team members, saying he couldn't comment as he had been in hospital and out of touch with events.

Hazare was brought to Sancheti Hospital with chest congestion on December 31. His deteriorating health soon forced him to call off his proposed campaign in five poll-bound states.

For now, Hazare's health is stable.

"His blood pressure, blood glucose and white blood cell count are normal," said Dr Parag Sancheti, chairman of Sancheti Hospital.
