Another killing by unidentified gunmen in Kashmir

A 40-year-old man was kidnapped and then killed by unknown gunmen in South Kashmir; merely a day after a Sarpanch was shot at his home in north Kashmir's restive town of Sopore.


Police said that 'some unknown militants kidnapped' Mohammad Shafi Dar, a resident of Aglar Kandi, in Pulwama district on Friday. "Later the bullet ridden body of Shafi was recovered near a passenger shed in the area," a police spokesman said.

On Friday morning a Sarpanch, affiliated to Congress, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Bomai village of Sopore in North Kashmir.

In the evening police along with army recovered a huge cache of arms, ammunition in a forest area of Sopore , the spokesman of police said.

He said that following a tip-off, security forces launched a search operation in Chatoosa forest area of  Sopore and recovered one AK 47 short barrel Rifle, three AK 47 magazines, ninety six AK 47 rounds, one RPG launcher and two UBGL launchers.
