A local court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail application of Vishavjeet Sangwan alias Nitu Pehalwan, who had attacked two journalists on June 16.

The court had reserved the decision on the anticipatory bail application of Nitu till Monday, after an application was moved by his lawyer on Saturday.

Notably, Nitu had attacked a Times of India journalist, Deepender Deswal, and a freelance photojournalist, Manoj Dhaka.

He had attacked Dhaka for highlighting the sorry state of affairs of Haryana Tennis Academy, outside the lawn tennis court at Rajiv Gandhi sports complex.

Deswal was also attacked when he tried to protect Dhaka. Dhaka was injured in the head, while Deswal got hurt in the hand.

Police had booked Nitu under sections 325 (causing grievous hurt), 323(voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
