The US-based woman of Indian origin who was arrested and later released on bail on Thursday for allegedly torturing her domestic help has landed in trouble again for a similar offence, this time for allegedly torturing a 16-year-old she had hired to take care of her ailing mother.
The boy was rescued on Friday by a team of Delhi Police.
In the last one month, several cases of abuse of domestic help have been reported in Delhi.
According to the boy’s family, the 55-year-old woman, Aarti Jain, had engaged him to take care of her 84-year-old mother, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in East Delhi. They alleged that Jain used to beat their son with leather belts and sticks and did not allow him to leave the hospital for two months.
They also alleged that Jain had attacked the minor with a knife. The police, however, said they were looking into these allegations. “The boy was sent for
medical examination after being rescued from the hospital. A case would be registered against Aarti Jain if his medical examination report confirms that he was physically tortured,” a senior police officer said.
According to the boy’s mother, her son called her from an unknown number and sought help. “When we approached her (Jain), she said she would implicate us in false cases and put us behind bars. We got scared but kept pleading with her to release our son,” she told HT.
The boy, the officer said, was rescued after his family members approached the officers of Mayur Vihar police station.
Earlier, officers of Mayur Vihar police station had rescued a 24-year-old domestic help and her husband and booked Jain for torturing them, burning them with hot kitchen tong and setting her dogs upon them.
