Six tribal organizations in Arunachal Pradesh have called a three-day bandh from April 17-19 to oppose a public hearing for the proposed 2700MW Lower Siang Hydro Electric Project.

The bandh coincides with the days scheduled for the public hearing, which the organizations labeled as 'police parading' on behalf of a private firm awarded the mega dam project.

"We are determined to save our sacred river and ancestral land from the corporate-government nexus," said Forum for Siang Dialogue general secretary Otto Dai said.
