Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday once again targeted Narendra Modi, alleging the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP's) prime minister nominee was spreading 'white lies' to exaggerate Gujarat's development story.

Addressing a rally in Bangalore, Kejriwal continued with his attack on the media, saying the truth about Gujarat was never shown as part of a political conspiracy to project Modi as the ideal prime minister candidate.

Modi, the Gujarat chief minister, has been playing up his development model of the state while addressing rallies to reach out to voters in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

Kejriwal countered his claims, saying Gujarat was plagued by corruption and scams.

"I tried to assess Modi's claims objectively," the former Delhi chief minister said, talking about his recent visit to the state.

"Farmers are committing suicide... No work could be done (in Gujarat) without shelling out money.

"Why is he (Modi) afraid of meeting me," Kejriwal added, reminding how the Gujarat chief minister refused to meet him.

Kejriwal also read out names of 'tainted' leaders in Karnataka at the public rally. He had earlier published a list of 'corrupt' candidates of the BJP and the Congress during his stint as the Delhi chief minister.

In the BJP camp, he aimed at former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and B Sriramalu, among others. Congress minister DK Shivakumar also came under attack.

Kejriwal said the condition of the country would not change even if the Congress-led government at the Centre was ousted.

"Both Congress and the BJP are symbols of corruption and communalism."

Exuding confidence about a good show by his party in the upcoming polls, he said, "But now, the country has a new, honest alternative: the Aam Aadmi Party."
