A day after former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal was slapped by an auto-rickshaw driver during a roadshow in outer Delhi’s Kirari, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader met Delhi Police commissioner BS Bassi at the police headquarters on Wednesday.

Kejriwal sought a probe into the recent attacks on him in Delhi.

The AAP chief also asked the police commissioner to track the mastermind behind the entire conspiracy. “Even if you deploy 20 policemen with me, these attacks will keep on happening. Track the masterminds and the attacks will stop,” Kejriwal said.

He maintained that he would not accept security. He said he had no grouse against security personnel who could not prevent any of the attacks on him.

The Delhi Police registered a case at the Sultanpuri police station against auto-rickshaw driver Lali in connection with his attack on Kejriwal on Tuesday.

Police sources said Lali allegedly had attempted to flee from the Sultanpuri police station after biting a sub-inspector’s hand after he was brought there for questioning after the attack. A constable, however, overpowered him outside the police station gate and brought him back.

A cross FIR has been registered against another attacker Abdul Wahid, 19, and AAP supporters in connection with the attempted attack on Kejriwal in south Delhi’s Dakshinpuri on April 4.

On Wednesday, Kejriwal arrived at the police headquarters around 3.30 pm with Manish Sisodia after meeting auto rickshaw driver Lali and his familiy members at their home in Prem Nagar (II). He also met Abdul Wahid 19, and his family in Jamia Nagar.

Wahid had made two attempts to punch Kejriwal during his roadshow in south Delhi’s Dakshinpuri on April 4.

Addressing the media after his meeting with the police commissioner, Kejriwal claimed, “I asked the police commissioner what has their probe involving the attacks on me revealed so far. He said they have recorded statements of the attackers. I told them that don’t harass them and track the masterminds who incite such attacks for vested interests.”

“I met both the attackers and they apologized and regretted their actions. They belong to poor families. The police commissioner has decided to monitor the investigation and will update me within two to three days,” said Kejriwal before leaving with Sisodia.
