5 injured in Assam's Chirang district blasts

Tension mounted in Chirang district under BTAD (Bodoland Territorial Area District) in Assam following twin grenade blasts in Bijni town on Sunday.

Police suspected that the twin grenade blasts were handiwork on banned NDFB(S) (National Democratic Front of Boroland – Sanjbijit faction) militant outfit.

Chirang police said that motorcycle borne suspected NDFB(S) militants lobbed first grenade at Koila-Moila bus stand at around 3.30 pm and second one at Deokurapara in Bijni town in the district.

Five non-Bodo persons were injured in the grenade blasts in the Bodo tribal dominated district.

Police launch search operation in the district to nab the NDFB(S) militants. The injury of three persons stated to be critical. All the injured were admitted in district civil hospital.

On Wednesday last too, suspected NDFB (S) militants triggered o grenade blast at Koila- Moila but no one was injured in the blast.
