A Class 6 student in Madhya Pradesh set herself ablaze on Friday after allegedly being stalked and harassed by a youth, the police said.
The 13-year-old girl suffered severe burn injuries and is in a critical condition. The incident took place in Satna, 486 km east of state capital Bhopal.
The police said the girl was apparently depressed as one Dabbu Singh, 22, repeatedly stalked and harassed her. The accused has been arrested.
Singh entered the girl's house on Friday when she was alone. He grabbed the girl's hands, but had to leave after she fought back and raised an alarm.
After Singh left, the girl reportedly poured kerosene and set herself on fire. She was rushed to a local hospital. Doctors said her condition was critical.

"We have registered a case against the accused. He has been arrested," the police said.
