Though no one in Orissa has so far tested positive to the killer H1N1 virus, the state government asked school authorities to allow leave to students and staff who show flu-like symptoms, official sources said.
The instruction in this regard was issued by the School and Mass Education department after the government realised that educational institutions helped spread of swine flu in other states.
The government had also issued circular to schools suggesting Dos and Don’ts in a bid to tackle the disease.
Besides, the department has asked school authorities to create awareness among the students on the disease and preventive measures.
As many as 11 people including some students had been hospitalised with swine flu symptoms. “Eight of the 11 persons have tested negative to the virus,” a senior health department official said, adding that the state was prepared to face the situation.
