A man hacked his wife to death over delay in serving him food, in Bhojpur district of Bihar on Thursday.
The incident took place at around 10 am at Mushar Toli of Hawelipur village in Charpokhri police station area of the district.
Charpokhri station house officer (SHO), Kunwar Prasad Gupta, said Shivmangal Ram asked his wife Durga Devi to serve him food. “But Devi did not serve him because she was talking on the phone. This angered Ram, who picked up a sharp-edged weapon and attacked his wife, killing her on the spot,” Gupta said.
Ram was arrested and Devi’s body has been sent to the Ara Sadar Hospital for a post-mortem examination, the SHO said.
Ram’s uncle, Hareram, who tried to save Devi was also injured in the attack, Gupta said, adding that he was undergoing treatment at the Charpokhri Primary Health Centre.
Gupta did not confirm allegations by some villagers that Ram was under influence of liquor when he attacked his wife.
