A meeting of the executive body of the district BJP was held at the Electricity Board rest house in the Rakkar colony on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by Naina Devi MLA and party in-charge of Hamirpur parliamentary segment area Randhir Sharma. State BJP president and Una MLA Satpal Singh Satti also attended the meeting.

Sharma exhorted the party workers to take a pledge to show the door to the “corrupt” Congress government at the Centre during the 2014 general elections. He said the state-level executive meeting of the party was being held at Palampur, after which there would be a series of trainings and meetings for party workers about the issues to be propagated at the grassroots level.

Satti said corruption and inflation brought in by the Congress misrule at the Centre would be the two main poll issues for the BJP.

He said while the UPA government was unresponsive to the problems of the common man, it had failed to check the spreading tentacles of terrorism.

Satti said the state Congress government was putting all its resources in victimising leaders of opposition instead of focussing on developmental activities.

Terming the performance of the state Congress during its first six months in the office as dismal, he said there were only announcements and assurances, but nothing concrete had come up with regard to development.

Satti called upon the party block presidents to immediately fill any vacant organisational post. He said the party organisation should be finalised up to the booth level till July 20, adding that all wings of the party would be mobilised for Lok Sabha elections.
