Ritesh Chandiwala, a leader of BJP’s youth wing in a Madhya Pradesh town, and his four associates, have been booked for the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl on May 19, the police said.

Three of the five accused – Jitu, Sheru and Sandeep Goswarmi – have been arrested while the hunt for Chandiwala and his friend Manoj was on. The crime came to light on Thursday night when it was reported to the police.

It was learnt the girl went to the house of Chandiwala, who is the leader of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha in Badnagar, 45km from Ujjain, for some work on May 19.  Chandiwala and his friend Manoj sexually assaulted her in the house and threatened to kill her if she spoke about the crime to anyone.

The girl was then handed over to the arrested trio, who raped her the next day. She was abandoned in Ujjain and found by a relative who handed her over to her parents on May 21.

A police official said the doctors, who examined the girl, have asked for a DNA test of the accused.
