Brij Mohan Sharma took over as new police chief of this district last evening. Sharma is not a new man to the district. He has already served the district as additional district police chief from 1998 to 2000.

Prior to this, he has also served as district police chief of Chamba for ten months.

Sharma said that his main endeavor would be to provide security to the women and students and to inculcate a sense of discipline in the police force.

He said that he would ensure that quick justice was provided to the people and crime was controlled in time and in a systematic manner.

Sharma said that he would ask the police force to act as a watch dog of the society.
The new Police chief also held a meeting with the Police staff and told them to be people friendly. He exhorted upon them to strongly implement the Community police scheme and ensure more and more participation of the people in the programme.
