Technology may play spoilsport for Chhattisgarh assembly deputy speaker Narayan Chandel’s brother, who, along with his supporters, was caught on camera thrashing a doctor.

Shekhar Chandel and his supporters were apparently ‘unhappy’ with Dr Pratap Singh Kurre of Champa district hospital over leaving their patients after attending to them.

A CCTV camera at the hospital caught Chandel and his friends thrashing the doctor as he made a move to leave to attend other emergency calls around 11.30pm on Sunday. Dr Kurre had already treated Chandel’s patients, but the group insisted that the doctor stayed with the three injured youths, said the hospital staff.

The group was on its way to attend the ongoing Vikas yatra of chief minister Raman Singh in the Janjgir-Champa district, when they met with an accident.

Doctors and other staff of the district hospital have gone on strike demanding the arrest of those involved in the assault. They lodged a protest with the CM and filed a police complaint.

Also, no one was arrested till Thursday. Narayan Chandel could not be contacted for his comment.
