Jailed Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh’s daughter Honeypreet Insan denied on Tuesday that she had ever left the country or that her adopted father abused her sexually.

Honeypreet, whose real name is Priyanka Taneja and who is on the Haryana Police’s most-wanted list on charges of sedition, told TV channels from an undisclosed location that she would surrender after advice from her lawyers.

In the interview she alleged that a pure relationship between her father, Singh, and her had been tarnished intentionally.

“Whatever is being said is false…can’t a father put his hand lovingly on his daughter’s head? Are emotions dead? Isn’t the father-daughter relation a sacred relation? What are they getting by leveling such false allegations?” she told TV channels.

Honeypreet, in her mid-30s, is on the run since August 25, hours after Singh was convicted. The police are on her trail for nearly a month and raids have been conducted in Nepal, Rajasthan, Bihar and Haryana.

Her former husband, Vishwas Gupta, had alleged that Singh had sexual relations with Honeypreet and that the cult leader had threatened to kill Gupta several times.

Honeypreet starred as the main heroine in five films he directed, produced and acted in, in three years. Singh was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping two women last month. His conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and 264 injured.

In her interviews to TV channels – her first since Ram Rahim’s conviction – Honeypreet said she would approach the high court and the Supreme Court against Singh’s conviction. “I am certain my father will be cleared.”

Honeypreet said she wasn’t on the run and that she went into depression after Singh’s conviction.

I was at home…I didn’t even know…we were still crying about papa’s conviction. We were fearful,” she told the news channels.

“A father who has done so much for the country, can he do this?”
