CBI arrest bank manager for taking bribe

A CBI team on Wednesday caught red-handed a branch manager of a nationalised bank in Chandauli district, 40 kms from here, accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 for clearing a loan from an applicant.


Ram Avadh Singh Yadav, Manager, Union Bank of India, Janso ki Maril branch in the district, was arrested along with facilitator Manoj Mishra while taking the amount from Ram Janam, the applicant, CBI sources said.

Ram Janam, a resident of Lohra village in the district, had applied for a loan of Rs. 1.5 lakh, through Manoj, to set up a milk dairy. Yadav had demanded Rs. 10,000 as bribe for clearing the loan.

Ram Janam informed the CBI in Lucknow about the demand after which the trap was laid and Yadav and Manoj were arrested, the sources said.

Yesterday, a CBI team had nabbed an IWAI technical assistant from Ghausabad (Nadesar) locality here while taking Rs. 50,000 as bribe from a private firm contractor.
