Defence minister AK Antony on Wednesday flagged concerns over rising ceasefire violations and infiltration attempts by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, blaming the Pakistani army for destabilising peace along the volatile border.

Antony said the terrorists attempting to sneak into J&K were better equipped and prepared than before to engage Indian security forces for longer periods.

"I am sure that nothing can happen there without the knowledge, and tacit or sometimes open support of Pakistan," he said.

Antony’s comments come at a time when the November 2003 ceasefire is barely holding out, with close to 240 violations being reported this year.

Describing it as an "unusual development," Antony said, "So far, ceasefire violations were taking place only on the LoC. Suddenly, there have been a series of ceasefire violations on the international border."
