Close on the heels of Haryana getting three big-ticket projects in May, the state now gets two civil airports. Having been okayed in principle by the Central Government, these will be set up in Karnal and Hisar.
This was announced by the chief minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while talking to media persons on Wednesday. The Government of India has given in principal approval for these airports for which a memorandum of understanding would soon be signed, Hooda said.
The chief minister expressed his gratitude to the Central Government and the Civil Aviation Ministry for giving approval for setting up of the airports. He said that the state government had applied for five airports for Hisar, Bhiwani, Narnaul, Karnal and Pinjore out of which approval has been obtained for Hisar and Karnal.
These airports would give connectivity a leg-up and boost industry and tourism. Hooda said that talks were on with the Government of India for setting up of an international cargo airport in the state.
