In a bid to enhance security in Tamil Nadu, Centre was mulling stationing permanent Central Industrial Security Force in the state, a top police official said on Saturday.
“Just like a permanent CISF in Andhra Pradesh, talks were also going on deploying a permanent force (in Tamil Nadu)”, Director General of Police K Pradeep Jain told reporters.
He said discussion in this regard was ‘going on´ but declined to elaborate.
On the recent approving of President’s Colours by President Pratibha Patil to Tamil Nadu police to mark the 150th year of the force,Jain said the President would participate in a function to be held this year for presenting the Colours.
“We don’t know when she would come as the date is yet to be finalised”, he said on the sidelines of a seminar conducted by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Welcoming the CII’s idea of setting up a training institute on security, he said the State had around three lakh private security guards and these men may be trained under the institute once it was developed.
