Priya Anand, who made her big screen Bollywood debut with English Vinglish, is a well-known face down south. And after her appearance as Sridevi’s niece in the recently released film, the actor has now clinched a lead role in Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s next, Fukrey, opposite Pulkit Samrat.

A popular face in the Tamil and Telugu film industries, the actor has been a part of several television commercials before making her debut in B-Town. A source says, “Priya’s big break in English Vinglish has done her a lot of good. Ever since the release of the film, she has been getting many offers. The scripts that are coming her way are really good.”

Fukrey is the first Bollywood film where Priya, who is born and brought up in Chennai, will play a lead role. The film is an edgy comedy starring actor Monjit Singh of Oye Lucky Lucky Oye! (2009) fame.

It also features Gangs Of Wasseypur actor Richa Chhada, who will play the role of a don called Holy Punjabi. When contacted, Ritesh Sidhwani confirmed the news.
