Three students of a private school here suffered minor injuries after they were beaten up by a physical training instructor (PTI) on the campus. The victims have been identified as Amandeep and Pawan Kumar of Class 7 and Vinkal Kumar of Class 8.

Vinkal's father Vinod Kumar told Hindustan Times that the boy was beaten twice by PTI Mahinder Kumar on Wednesday, causing a hairline fracture on the hand. He added, "When I enquired from the management of Sawan Public School about the matter, they initially refused to talk."

Vinkal said, "Students of my class were making noise. The PTI came and started beating me with a stick."

Pawan and Amandeep, both 12, said, "We arrived late at school by a few minutes on Tuesday morning. The PTI stopped us near the canteen and started beating us." Their parents said, "The school authorities made the teacher apologise only when we asked them to approach the police for lodging a complaint."

Principal Indira Khurrana admitted that the incident took place, but hastened to add that the matter had been resolved. "Our school is against corporal punishment," she said.
