The witness, an official posted at the cargo terminal of Air India, told special judge Yogesh Khanna: “I (prosecution witness) had seen the original passport of the victim. I had not seen the dates on the passport. I cannot comment on the contents of the document.”

Elaborating on his role in handling the documents related to the victim, he said: “I cannot comment upon the contents of the documents prepared in Singapore. Those documents.... are of Singapore, whereas the other documents were prepared in India after the flight landed.”

While being cross-examined by accused Mukesh, Akshay Singh and Pawan Gupta’s counsel, he said the coffin containing the body was unloaded on December 29, 2012 in his presence. The counsel for the accused had claimed that the death certificate produced with the victim’s body was not issued by a medical practitioner.

The counsel for the accused claimed the certificate is not called a death certificate, but it is a certificate of registration of death.  He said the document did not contain the date under the signature of the official. To this, the witness said: “I had seen the death certificate of the victim at the time of receiving  the body.”
