Ram Singh: the main accused behind the ghastly crime

Ram Singh, the 33-year-old main accused in December 16 gangrape of a 23-year-old paramedical student in a moving bus in Delhi, committed suicide late on Sunday night inside the Tihar Jail by hanging himself.

He was the prime accused in the gangrape trial and was facing 13 criminal charges, including death penalty in rarest of rare cases.

A local bully in South Delhi's Ravi Das slum, he was drunk at the time of the incident and was the one to trigger the altercation that snoballed into the brutal rape.

He was the driver of the bus in which the paramedical student was raped on that fateful nigh last year.
