“The BJP is raising development issues in its campaigns and focusing on the wrongdoings of the central government, whereas the truth is that Himachal Pradesh was discriminated by the previous BJP government,” said chief minister Virbhadra Singh.

He said this while addressing an election rally at Bahtakidhar area of Seraj segment here on Thursday.
Singh said the BJP government sidelined rural development projects and proposals and sold out state resources instead of improving the natural wealth of the state during its regime.

He said the state government was dedicated to restart development projects for the welfare of rural people to strengthen the rural economy.

Seraj being the home segment of Jairam Thakur, who is BJP candidate for Mandi bypoll, Virbhadra targeted Jairam and said Jairam represented the segment thrice and remained rural development minister in the previous BJP government for five years, but he had failed to add a single stone of development in the area.

The CM said the BJP only groomed contractors or brokers during their period of governance and that was why the people had turned their “mission repeat” into “mission defeat” and the BJP was yet to face another defeat in the Mandi byelection, he claimed.

Singh alleged that the BJP government accommodated its party leaders' near and dear ones and provided jobs to them or opportunity to loot the state wealth, whereas the BJP government forgot to secure 70% jobs to the state youth in industries.

He added that the Congress was serving the people of the country for the past 150 years since the pre-independence era.
