The Kerala police on Tuesday booked the principal and office-bearers of an industrial training college union after the college magazine placed Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a list of the world’s most cruel people, a police official said on Tuesday.

Modi’s picture was placed along with photos of sandalwood smuggler Veerappan, LTTE leader V Prabhakaran and slain al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

The issue triggered a big protest on the campus of the Government Polytechnic, Kunnamkulam (Thrissur district) after ABVP activists burnt copies of the magazine. Embarrassed college authorities said they would withdraw the magazine immediately.

The magazine carried pictures of Mother Teresa, Mahatma Gandhi and Marxist revolutionary Che Guevara under ‘good souls’ and  Modi, Laden, Veerapapan, etc under the ‘negative souls’ category. The college union is controlled by Students Federation of India, CPM student wing.

The police also registered a case against the student editor after ABVP and BJP leaders filed a written complaint.
