The District Congress Committee is all set to regain the traditional bastion of the party in the upcoming Parliament elections in Sirmaur.

The DCC organised a meeting on Tuesday, which was attended by vice-chairman of the state planning commission Gangu Ram Mussafir, chairman, HIMFED, Kanwar Ajay Bahadur Singh, CPSes Vinay Kumar and Kunjana Singh,  but Congress leader Kush Parmar and Harsh Vardhan Chauhan remained absent from the meeting.

In the last Vidhan Sabha polls, the Congress had lost three seats, which was a major setback to the party.

Sources say the Congress would cash in on the Food Security Bill to woo voters. The Congress had also replaced the DCC president a few months ago to strengthen the organisation in the district. Young party leader Ajay Solanki was given the party command in the district.

Solanki said the government was committed for overall development of the district.
