Addressing the media here on Monday, Thakur alleged that the state government had misused its power and adopted all illegal means to win the byelection because the repute of Congress stalwart leader Virbhadra Singh was at stake.

He said all ministers and legislatures of the Congress were deployed in the election to woo the voters and to ensure the victory of the Congress candidate.

He said, "It has been observed that the ruling party had won most of the byelections in the state."

He asked party workers that there was no need to worry and get ready for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He said, "There is a wave against the Congress-led UPA central government across the nation because of its failure on various issues, which would help the BJP to come to power in 2014."

In reply to a query, Thakur said he was not interested to contest the Mandi parliamentary byelection, but it was the decision of the party high command. He said the BJP was a disciplined party and the decision of the party high command would always be acceptable.

He said, "We are conducting meetings with party workers in all districts. We are asking them to work vigorously to strengthen the party for the upcoming Lok Sabha election."

District Kullu BJP president Govind Thakur, state BJP general secretary Ram Sawaroop Sharma and other party leaders were present on the occasion.
