The Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government is the most corrupt government, which has shattered the economy of India. This was stated by former chief minister and Rajya Sabha member Shanta Kumar.

Addressing mediapersons here at Kullu, he alleged that scams worth Rs. 70 lakh crore occurred in India during the regime of the UPA government, which has made the life of the common man miserable.

He said inflation had gone high in its regime and disparity between poor and rich had increased.
Today, there was fear of corruption, naxalism and terrorism all around.

He urged the people of Mandi to elect BJP candidate Jairam Thakur because all eyes were on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, that could give respite to people of the country from rampant corruption, inflation and terrorism.

He said the nation had come on the verge of danger, where allegations of corruption had been levelled against the chief of defense in ammunition deal.

He said it was the right time to root out the Congress-led UPA government out of power.
In reply to a query, Shanta said the split of BJP in Himachal, which created another faction, was a matter of regret that would harm the party as well as leaders.

He said the BJP was contesting this election on national issues and their crusade against the UPA government over corruption, inflation and terrorism would continue.

Kumar accepted that there was a sharp decline of values in political parties, but said the BJP was emphasising on to preserve its values.
