Cong wants tie-up with RLD

The Congress on Monday sought a tie-up with Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal in Uttar Pradesh for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a public meeting in Shamli, UP Congress Committee President Rita Bahuguna said RLD should join the Congress-SP alliance in the state "to defeat the communal forces" in the general elections.

Accusing the ruling BSP of unleashing 'jungle raj' in UP, she claimed that the Mayawati government "has failed on all the fronts".

The RLD is considered strong in western Uttar Pradesh.
