Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said the Congress would work towards providing 4% additional compensation to people whose land was acquired for the construction of the Renuka dam.
He said the Congress feels that adequate compensation should be given to oustees for their rehabilitation.
Interacting with the Hindustan Times during his tour to Renuka, he said the Congress was serious in providing proper compensation to those whose land was being acquired for the projects of national interest.
He urged the party workers to work at booth level in their areas for spreading awareness about the policies of the Centre and the state government. Sukhu said the party workers should maintain discipline in the party and ensure participation in meetings of DCC, BCC and panchayat committees regularly.
“The HPCC will take action against those party workers who will not attend the meetings of DCC, BCC and panchayat committees as per the directions of AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi,” Sukhu said.
He also praised Himachal founder Dr YS Parmar for his efforts and contribution made towards the welfare of the state and its citizens.
The HPCC chief criticised Gujarat CM Narendra Modi for misleading general public on his development model and said that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) has exposed the lies of Modi related to the development in Gujarat.
He alleged that former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and his team played the politics of convenience and they only believed in giving favours to their family members and near and dear ones.
