The seven have been sentenced to life by a Special Court in Mumbai and were stationed in Nasik jail before they were brought to Limkheda for investigation on Saturday, sources said

Among the various cases of arson and loot registered during the 2002 riots in Dahod, four have been reopened for reinvestigation and names of these convicts are included in it, the sources said.

The convicts include Nilesh Bhatt, Raju Soni, Kesar Vohaniya, Pradip Muliya, Ramesh Chandana and uncle-nephew duo of Jaswant Raval and Goving Raval, sources added.

According to police, they will remain in custody till May 27 and then looking into the outcome of the investigation the court will give further orders.

They are accused in four different cases of arson, one in Singhwad village, other in Randhikpur and two in Limkheda of Dahod district, sources said.

The Special Court in Mumbai had convicted them for attacking 17 Muslims, resulting in the death of eight. Bilkis Bano was gangraped and was among the three who survived.

Bilkis's case was transferred to Mumbai by the Supreme Court in 2003 after the CBI and Bilkis expressed apprehensions that the witnesses in the case could be harmed if the trial was couducted in Guajrat.
