Cop attacked with blades for trying to stop group clash

A policeman was attacked with shaving blades when he and his colleague had gone to intervene in a fight between two groups over some issue in Faridabad on Wednesday.


The incident took place in Ajronda, near Mathura Road in Faridabad. The accused, identified as Sanjay Ali, was produced before the court on Thursday.
The police said they received information about two groups getting into a fight over some issue at Ajronda on Wednesday afternoon.

A huge crowd had already gathered at the spot. Two police officials, assistant sub inspector Om Prakash and
head-constable Balbir, were sent to the spot to defuse the situation.

The police said, one Sanjay Ali came forward and started abusing the policemen on duty. The accused went to a
nearby salon, came with shaving blades and attacked Om Prakash.

The accused even tried to tear the uniform of the policemen but was soon overpowered by the officials.
A case was registered against Ali. The accused was produced before the court on Thursday, which remanded him in judicial custody.
"Om Prakash has received multiple injuries, it was shocking that police officials were attacked while discharging duty," said a senior police

Earlier in July, three people from Nagaland had allegedly attacked a Delhi Police constable with a knife, after he enquired about a person lying unconscious on the backseat of their vehicle in the Barakhamba Road area.
