Couple killed in Himachal road accident

A honeymooning couple from Maharashtra died when their speeding cab fell into a gorge near the Kullu Valley, police said on Saturday.

The accident took place late on Friday in the high mountains of the Valley near the 13,050-feet-high Rohtang pass, some 325 km from Shimla.

The car fell into a 150-feet gorge killing the newly weds, Nilesh and Sheetal Satara. The couple, in their twenties, had arrived in Manali earlier this week.

The driver of the taxi was seriously injured and has been admitted to hospital.

The cause of the accident is being ascertained.
