South Korean student allegedly raped in hotel

Bhopal: A 22-year-old South Korean student was allegedly raped at a hotel near Badhavgarh National Park in Umaria district on January 14.

The accused is said to be the manager of the hotel owned by an MLA and also his relative, according to sources. The police, however, did not confirm this. The victim made a complaint in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, on the night of January 30-31, following which an FIR was registered.

“The woman had approached the police as she had lost her bag in the train by which she arrived in Aurangabad from Hyderabad. She broke down while recording her statement and reported the rape,” police said. The confusion about the nationality of the victim happened because the policemen were not sure about the difference between the two Koreas.

According to her complaint, she tried to raise an alarm but was overpowered and threatened. The matter was reported to police on Thursday after the victim’s husband returned. The police took the victim for medical examination.

The crime had taken place when the victim’s husband was not at home.
