The Hamirpur police station, which was set up in 1875, would be strengthened and basic infrastructure facilities would be provided in the building to the staff. Deputy commissioner, Ashish Singhmar, said this after he paid a surprise visit to the police station on Wednesday.
District police chief, BM Sharma, also accompanied the deputy commissioner during his visit. Singhmar went through the record of the police station and expressed satisfaction over its working.
He said it was a heritage building and the administration would metal the main complex of the police station besides providing pucca path to the police colony.
He asked the police staff to work in unison with the people as they were the custodian of the democratic set up.
Singhmar said efforts were on to maintain law and order in the district and timely inspections of the police station would be done in order to complete the assigned works in time.
