The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced results of the Dehradun region for Class 10 board and school-based examinations on Tuesday. More than 6,000 students got the perfect score of 10 even as girls outshone boys yet again in the CBSE examinations after the Indian School Certificate (ISC) results declared on May 17.

The CBSE results for Class 10 were declared on the board’s official website at 4pm on Tuesday. A total of 1,31,224 candidates appeared in the Dehradun region this year out of which 6,673 students scored the highest cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 10.
The number of students who scored between 9.1 and 10 CGPA was 12,180.
This year the number of male and female candidates who appeared for Class 10 CBSE exams were 85,174 and 46,050 respectively. The overall pass percentage of the region was 99.07%, with 99.54% girls and 98.82% boys constituting the tally.
A total of 29.73% students scored above 75% marks in the examinations.
“The overall pass percentage of the region this year is 99.07%. Results of the Dehradun region have been declared separately for the first time ever as till 2013 it used to be a part of the Allahabad region,” Manoj Kumar Srivastava, regional officer of the CBSE Dehradun region, told HT.
Altogether, 24 students of the National Institute for the Visually Handicapped (NIVH), Dehradun, produced brilliant results. Out of 18 arts students, Priya Pandey from Jharkhand topped with a score of 9.2 CGPA followed by Kamal Yadav from Rajasthan (8.8) and Shanti Chaurasia from Gorakhpur (8.2).
Out of the 6 science students, Yudhveer Singh from Dehradun scored 7.2 CGPA. “We are very happy about the results. The students worked very hard for this,” Kamalbir Singh Jaggi, NIVH principal, told HT. The NVIH students have an option to choose a stream in Class 10 exam.
It is worth mentioning that more than 1,300 schools are affiliated to the CBSE in the Dehradun region, out of which students of total 1,205 schools appeared for Class 10 examinations in 2014.
In the state capital itself, there are around 11 government-run KVs (Kendriya Vidyalayas) in Dehradun and several private schools including Doon International School, DAV Public School, Scholar’s Home, Asian School, Welham Boys’ School, Jaswant Modern School etc are affiliated to the CBSE.
Results of Class 10 Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) boards will be declared on Wednesday.
