Dehradun: With the nomination dates nearing for the Lok Sabha polls, incumbent chief minister Harish Rawat and former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank trained guns on each other on Friday. Rawat said voters want to know Nishank’s role in Kumbh scam and in Citurgia land scam. Nishank shot back and asked Rawat to tell what he has done as an MP.

Nishank is contesting as BJP candidate from Haridwar parliamentary constituency. CM who at present represents Haridwar is reportedly pushing his wife Renuka Rawat as would be party candidate.
As Congress has not yet announced candidates for the LS polls, BJP candidates including Nishank are at an advantage. On Friday both the CM and ex-CM were embroiled in a verbal duel.
“Nishank must clarify his position in Kumbh and Citurgia scam,” the CM asked targeting Nishank. It is learnt Nishank as a CM came under attack from the opposition when CAG suggested misuse of funds in the name of works carried for the Kumbh mela. The opposition also linked Nishank’s name with Citurgia land scam.
Nishank took no time in hitting back at Rawat. He asked the CM to explain what he has done as a Member of Parliament for the welfare of parliamentary constituency. “The chief minister is trying to hide real issues by making hollow allegations. He must explain what works he has done for his constituency besides fooling them in all these years,” said Nishank.
Apart from Nishank, Bahujan Samaj Party, Samajwadi Party (SP) and Aam Adami Party are also contesting the election. In fact, the SP has recently replaced its candidate.
