Both are considered close to CM Harish Rawat. Uttarakhand has five Lok Sabha seats.

While Rawat’s wife Renuka is leading the race among the contenders for Haridwar, Vijay Bahuguna wants Tehri Garhwal seat for his son Saket who had lost the October 2012 Lok Sabha by-election to BJP’s Mala Raj Laxmi Shah.

While Rawat wants the central leadership to Bahuguna, the former CM argued that since Rawat’s wife is getting the ticket from Haridwar, his son should too.
