The Congress on Saturday re-nominated sitting Uttarakhand MPs KC Singh Baba and Pradeep Tamta from Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar and Almora seats respectively.

Both are considered close to CM Harish Rawat. Uttarakhand has five Lok Sabha seats.

While Rawat’s wife Renuka is leading the race among the contenders for Haridwar, Vijay Bahuguna wants Tehri Garhwal seat for his son Saket who had lost the October 2012 Lok Sabha by-election to BJP’s Mala Raj Laxmi Shah.

While Rawat wants the central leadership to Bahuguna, the former CM argued that since Rawat’s wife is getting the ticket from Haridwar, his son should too.

Commercial complexes fail to provide parking facilities

Commercial complexes in the city, at least a majority of them, do not have parking facilities for vehicles. A review of 21 commercial complexes in the state capital conducted on Thursday revealed only five of them had parking space.
This despite Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) several attempts to enforce commercial complexes to create parking spaces in their basements.
