The police also said they did not find any record of the alleged petition in the court of judicial magistrate and family settlement officer.

The INLD raised a storm in the Haryana assembly by accusing Hooda of bigamy. Waving certified copies of the petition the woman is alleged to have filed in a Dehradun court, INLD senior leader Abhay Chautala alleged Hooda had married Shashi in November 1992.

The petition mentioned she lived at 8/9 Special Wing, Premnagar, on the outskirts of Dehradun. But Meharban Rawat, who owns the house, has said no woman named Shashi ever lived there.

Premnagar police in charge Naresh Rathore said three women named Shashi resided in the same locality, but none fits the description provided by the INLD.
